Well, I guess I almost

Well, I guess I almost finished this project. Then I realized that the actual due date is next week. But that's the thing with me. When I know I need to get it done, I get it done. When there is a long schedule, I let it ride for a little while. Things worked out this time, but it could have been so much worse.

The truth is, I have

The truth is, I have been undone by several recent occurrences. First, I am pressed for time at work. I am supposed to have a nice report and test protocol finished by last Friday (at the latest tomorrow), and things are not totally finished yet. I am disappointed in myself for not doing a bang-up job.

Second, I am upset at the television. In college, I got into the habit of not watching television. I continued the habit after college and didn't even have a television in my apartment for a little while. Now that we have cable, we're watching a lot more than in the past. It has all culminated into a minor interest in watching horrible shows like The Bachelorette and Joe Millionaire.

The Bachelorette: Why do we care who she ends up with? Why should all these guys vie for this girl's attention? She isn't all that great. And who couldn't tell that all Charlie cared about was winning the game. It was all about the competition, nothing to do with love. Maybe that's why he didn't win.

Joe Millionaire: This is the show that I despise. Why do I despise this show? Because it's stupid. It's a one-trick pony and the trick is stupid. A week or two ago we watched the episode that appeared to be the last one. Turns out that the whole hour was just a recap of the previous episode. Seriously. Nothing new.

The two-hour season finale was ridiculous. The first hour was garbage, especially since we hadn't seen the beginning of the season. The second hour was fluff. They stretched 5 minutes into an hour. And what is the big surprise? They gave the couple a million dollars. So what? Who's going to pay me back for all those hours of my life that I'll never get back? I deserve at least a little bit of that advertising money. it makes me so mad to think that I wasted free time on such garbage.

And they think I'm going to tune in next week when Zora and Evan are reunited. Yeah right! Hah! Double hah! I think I'll start a FOX boycott. But then I'd miss American Idol. After resenting the first season, though I didn't watch a single episode, I wouldn't have guessed that I would enjoy the show. I really do. It's a little silly also, but you do end up rooting for your favorites and they draw you into it a little bit. It's decent.

Then, on a whole different level, we've been watching the commercial-free first season of 24 on DVD (loaned to us by my brother). Now that is something to look forward to.

Does this blog have a reason for being? I'm not really sure. I think it's just a ramble.

We did a little pottery

We did a little pottery painting last night with Doug and Leslie. I painted a spoon rest to replace our broken one. I'll try to remember to post a picture when we get it back. Kate painted a utensil holder. Leslie and Doug painted square plates. It took some time for Doug to find his muse, but when he did, his plate ended up looking good. Leslie took too long and ended up having to take the plate home. She has to go back to finish.

And, since today is Valentine's Day, I am having lunch with my wife.

My brother loaned us the

My brother loaned us the first season of 24 and we've been watching an episode every night since Monday. I feel sorry for the suckers who had to wait a whole week to see what happens next. Of course, any one of you out there can post something on this blog that would ruin the rest of the season for me. But I doubt that will happen.

As you may or may

As you may or may not know, we are trying to switch over to Movable Type. It seems pretty cool and has all these added features included. The only thing is, I'm not sure how I could make it so that anybody could log in without being absolutely sure they can't screw anything else up while they are logged in.

I'd like to keep this weblog open to everyone for posting. Even though it isn't a common occurrence, it does happen every once in a while, and when it does happen, it does make me happy, and isn't that what life is all about?

So, if you want to make your mark on this site, please post to let me know how I can still make this an open place for people to post their truths after I switch over to MT.

I have a Yale -

I have a Yale - Dartmouth hockey ticket stub on my nightstand. It is there because we went to the game last weekend with Kevin, Maxine, and Jens. We were on the guest list because Jens is good friends with one of the players and was able to get us all in for free. We had some spicy dinner at a Thai restaurant. Then we went for ice cream. After the game we went for coffee/tea. Jens told us all about his upcoming trip around the world. Kevin and Maxine talked about their new puppy and Kevin's recent trip to California.

It was great to see those guys and since I have some kind of proof that I actually went out and did something, I keep the evidence. I would put it in the box that I keep for that sort of stuff, but it's all taped up from the move. Besides, it is overstuffed already. Why keep it at all? I would probably forget that any of it ever happened if I threw out the ticket stub. I have such a terrible memory. I guess the idea is that someday, when I'm older, I will go through all those things and think about all the fun times I had. This will never happen. I know it won't happen, and yet I still have the box.

I should just write things like this on weblogs like this one so I can go back, read, and remember the things like this. I could even scan the ticket stub and post it. That way I can throw it out and clear of my nightstand for more important things liked stuffed animals or something.
