I just wanted to say

I just wanted to say that though I may not be good at it, I enjoy web design. Not that I'm referring to this page at all, but when I switch over to MT I will probably do some kind of redesign. Did someone say "procrastination project?"

Hey, I've been so busy doing real stuff lately that I have hardly had time for any procrastination (as all of my friends may note from the lack of e-mail responses). It's about time I have some time for goofing off.

I think I saw J.

I think I saw J. Lo.

A long time ago, when I decided to shop for an engagement ring, I was working in Manhattan. I began my ring-shopping experience at Tiffany's one day after work. As I stood by the counter trembling with fear, waiting for someone to offer his or her help, I looked up and saw Ben Affleck standing near the entranceway to the store. He was smiling and laughing and had some girl by his side. It seemed as if he was joking about buying the girl an engagement ring and she pulled him by the arm out of the store.

The date was probably around August 2001. I don't really keep up with the dating scene of the stars, so I'm not sure if it was J. Lo yet or what. The thing I really remember was how tall Ben Affleck was. I'm 6-foot tall and he just looked so much bigger than that.

That's funny because 10,000 Maniacs' "These are Days" was our prom song. Here's to the alternagirls.

Also, in a strange turn of events, I think you were actually voted prom queen at my high school.

the truth has jostled my

the truth has jostled my memory.

when we were in full end-of-high-school swing there was an opportunity to submit nomitations for the class song, which would be played at a special time during the prom (and snippets would be played everyday leading up to the prom). in true sappy alternagirl fashion, i submitted "These are Days" by 10,000 Maniacs which had been released that academic year. apparently i forgot to mention the name of the band, because the song that appeared on the ballot and that was ultimately chosen was the song by Billy Joel, which (although never acknowledged during the voting or playing) is actually entitled "This Is the Time".

and i never figured out whether or not my nomination for prom queen was a joke.

Paula Abdul's career

When I was in high school, one of my friends did an independent survey to find the students' favorite song. He said that there were basically two responses to the question: Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl."
